Zechariah 4:6
Then he answered and spoke to me, saying, "This is Yahweh's word to Zerubbabel, saying, 'Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says Yahweh of Armies.

Interpretation

The prophet calls a by spirit that is traced in meals and meetings. Zechariah 4:6: notice "saying" and "answered". Work out by spirit in hospitality and listening—honor God behind closed doors. Through spirit & new life, The gift of God’s Spirit renews hearts and empowers witness (Ezek 36; John 3; Acts 1–2).

Context

Zechariah’s night visions center on temple rebuilding (Zechariah 4:6). “Not by might” or strategy—Zerubbabel’s work depends on Spirit.

Early sources associate Zechariah with Zechariah. Modern scholarship on Zechariah sees Apocalyptic visions; chs 9–14 may be later.. Scholars commonly date Zechariah 520–515 BC; later additions possible.. This verse leans into spirit & new life.
